KONE, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has been ranked 48th on the list of the world's top 100 most innovative companies by the business magazine Forbes. Featured on the list for the fifth year in a row, KONE ranks as the 5th most innovative company in Europe.
"We are extremely proud to have been acknowledged for our innovation capabilities," says Henrik Ehrnrooth, President & CEO of KONE Corporation."This is a testament to our continued commitment to deliver the best People Flow solutions and to improve urban life."
KONE's recent breakthough innovations include its high-rise elevator hoisting technology, KONE UltraRope®, enabling future elevator travel heights of one kilometer - twice the distance currently feasible. The technology will be used in Saudi Arabia's Kingdom Tower expected to be the world's tallest building with a height rising over one kilometer once completed. Another innovation highlight is the KONE family of People Flow Intelligence solutions, which makes navigation through buildings ever smoother and smarter.
Forbes magazine's ranking is based on a metric called the "Innovation Premium": the difference between their market capitalization and a net present value of cash flows from existing businesses.
